A broadleaf evergreen whose prodigious scarlet fruit persists through winter into spring. Can be used as a hedge, specimen, foundation plant, or even topiary. If grown as a small tree it takes on an open, irregular shape. Because of its vigorous response to pruning, it can be shaped to produce dense foliage. One of our best native plants for the landscape.
Though native to swampy areas yaupon is adaptable to quite dry soils—yaupon holly is one of our most tolerant hollies to dry soils though can be grown in we conditions. Plant is dioecious—produces only male or female flowers.
Note
