This listing is for a single
Scionix Holland 38B57/1.5M NaI(Tl) scintillation detector
in nice condition. These detectors have been professionally refurbished by seller with new 120 MegOhm voltage divider and BNC connector. Each detector is ready for use with radiation survey equipment or for use in a gamma spectroscopy setup. Although these detectors are previously used, the mu-metal housing and crystal housing are in very good condition.
The Scionix Holland 38B57/1.5M NaI(Tl) scintillator detector uses a Thallium doped Sodium Iodide NaI(Tl) Scintillation Crystal for Gamma Radiation Detection. The crystal is 57mm Long (2-1/4 inch) by 38mm diameter (1-1/2 inch) and able to respond to a wide range of energies. The PMT used in this detector is a high quality Hamamatsu R980 Photomultiplier Tube, and includes a newly installed 120 MegOhm dynode chain. There is a grounded Mu-Metal shield surrounding the PMT itself, plus the housing also serves as additional grounded shielding. The end-cap has a new high quality Amphenol BNC jack installed. Scionix Holland makes some of the best detectors available, and this probe is far superior to the similar sized but less capable Ludlum Model 44-2, which only has a 1 inch crystal. The crystal in this Scionix probe has 5 times the volume of the Ludlum 44-2, which makes if far more sensitive to a wider range of energies.
The detector is approximately 172mm long by 45mm diameter (without connector).
Pictures show operation on a Ludlum Survey Meter running at about 750 volts, with excellent response to background and check sources. Following pictures show the probe being used for Gamma Spectroscopy using a Theremino PMT Adapter (I often have these in other listings). The probe is shown responding to Cs137, Am241, Co60 and a very weak source of Lu176 contained in a LYSO crystal (the Lu176 sources and LYSO crystals are available in my other listings). Only one Scionix detector probe as shown is sold in this listing, no other items shown are included in the sale. Multiple probes are available, and the pictures are representative of the one you will receive. Other items, including survey meter, computer, HVPS, and sources are not included, but shown only to demonstrate the functionality of the detector probes offered in this listing. Each probe comes with a 30 day Warranty and Satisfaction Guarantee.
The Holland 38B57/1.5M NaI(Tl) Scintillator Probe includes a BNC connector for connection to your meter. If you prefer another type of connector, a different value voltage divider, or separate HV and Signal connectors, I can custom build one of these detectors to your specifications. Please contact seller first if you desire a custom built detector.
