Stunning Antique Royal China Works Worcester (formerly Grainger and Co.) Reticulated Double-Walled Dish ~ c 1891.
Gorgeous white porcelain dish with
double walled reticulated porcelain design
, and beautifully embellished with gold gilding and turquoise colors. Made by the Worcester Royal Porcelain Co. Ltd. which took over the Grainger Company in 1889, this lovely piece dates to 1891. The perfect size for trinkets, jewelry, or even a candle -- or simply leave it empty and admire it's stunning craftsmanship! Because it is double walled, any contents of the dish will not damage the intricate reticulated porcelain work, so the uses are endless! Makers Marks:
To the underside in dark brown is ' Royal China Works Worcester ' encircling a shield with ' G & Co Established 1801' beneath the circle reads 'Trademark A', and beneath that is handwritten in deep red, '1/1865'. These detailed marks date this lovely piece to 1891.
Condition:
Previously cherished and in excellent overall antique condition, no cracks, crazing or staining. The 9 panels of double walled reticulated porcelain handwork are striking but
please notice
2 of the 9 turquoise painted "dots" (one at the center of each side panel) are perfect, the others have varying degrees of their "dot" present (see photos #5-7 to best see what I mean). All other turquoise beading details (around the upper edge and between each panel) are perfect, as is the gold gilding, which shows just slight signs of wear. No restorations have been done.
