Mangostan Garcinia-Cambogia Pulver
Tree, up to 20 m tall, glabrous. Bark dark brown, fissured. Leaves sub-coriaceous; 1.5 x 6-4 x 10 cm; petioles 1-1.5 cm long. Male flowers in the axils of upper leaves, pedicels up to 1-2.5 cm long; female flowers solitary. Fruit like a large apple, up to 8 cm diameter, glossy pale yellow, persistent sepals reflexed under the fruit. Seeds embedded in a soft juicy sweet-acid arillode.

It is an evergreen small size tree, fully grown in 3 to 5 years and will flower in 3 years. With thin skin and deep vertical lobes, the fruit of this tree and related species range from about the size of an orange to that of a grapefruit. The fruit looks more like a small yellowish, greenish, or sometimes reddish pumpkin. The color can vary considerably. When the rinds are dried and cured in preparation for storage and extraction, they are dark brown or black in color. The fruit is used for cooking, weight loss, cholesterol control and as a dietary supplement also.
