Description
Plant Wicks Wick Watering Cord 50 FeetThis synthetic cord is a recycled product from the parachute making industry and will provide a lifetime of use watering your container plants. It will not rot or degrade in quality. I am using wicks that I have used over 40 years. They can be washed and bleached to provide year after year use. If you have never used wicks, here is a quick how-to: Prior to use I recommend you boil the cord for several minutes to remove the manufacturing surface and any soil.
Also soaking this cord or any other type of cord prior to use makes it much more efficient when using as wicking.
When cleaning this cord, wash/soak in a bleach solution overnight to remove any soil or fertilizer salts.
To set up your wicking, soak the wicks in a bowl of water. Grasp the base of the plant and remove it from the pot. Insert a pencil into the bottom of the root ball of the plant approximately half way up the root ball. Do this gently so as not to damage any of the roots. Insert the end of the wick into the hole created in the root ball of the plant, using the pencil as an insertion tool. Thread the other end of the wick out through the bottom drainage hole of the plant pot. Place the plant back into the pot. Place the wick onto the watering reservoir and you are in business.
