A wonderful native groundcover that spreads by rhizomes, produces dainty flowers over a two month period, and produces attractive foliage that is rarely bothered by insects or disease. Native to an incredible range of the U.S. from Canada to Mexico, from the east coast to California absent only in the northwest. The only
Phyla
species in the northern states it is sometimes called northern fogfruit—also called frogfruit.
Most commonly found in the wild in wet and damp places such as seasonally flooded sites including degraded wetlands, ditches, and other damp places. Such places often dry out during the summer meaning this plant can tolerate wet to quite dry sites. Because it spreads by rhizomes it forms dense colonies making it a great groundcover.
A great plant for the pollinator garden lanceleaf fogfruit attracts numerous insect pollinators.
We also offer
Calyptocarpus vialis
(straggler daisy) (https://www.ebay.com/itm/143187078726) a similar native groundcover which is slightly smaller the lanceleaf fogruit. Both make
great native groundcovers.
Note
:
If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
