A much larger-leaved variety than the species of the common plantain which is found as a common lawn weed. This subspecies produces leaves as large as a hosta—hosta, by the way goes by another name—plantain lily! This subspecies stands out in the garden and will often rebloom sending up its architectural flowers/seed heads in spring and again in late summer.
Hardy throughout the country this subspecies is grown for its highly nutritious leaves which are high in calcium, vitamins A, C, and K. Young tender leaves taste best before the leaves become fibrous—eaten raw or cooked.
A great plant for ornamental effect or the vegetable garden.
Note
: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet. If you would prefer a separate packet for each lot of seeds please contact us immediately after placing your order, or before, to let us know—we will accommodate your preference.
