Propagate
: Seed needs no special pretreatment. This species germinates erratically over several months. Expect the first seeds to germinate around 30-60 days after sowing with the highest germination during this initial planting period. Seeds may continue to germinate months thereafter. This reproductive strategy provides for the best chance that some seeds in situ will germinate during optimal growing conditions.
In colder climates grown as a 3-5’ tall perennial as it is root hardy at the extremes of its range. Blooms on new growth. In warmer climates forms a multi-trunk airy, open tree or large shrub. Its 12” lilac to lavender flower clusters are spectacular throughout late summer and frequented by pollinators, in particular native bees and buttlerflies. Leaves are aromatic when bruised.
Note
: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
