    Description

    Silvervine ~ Matatabi
As discussed below, a 2017 academic study was conducted by nine veterinarians which found that a majority of cats responded to silvervine (matatabi).
But more specifically … it’s the dried and powered fruit gall that’s the main attractant, and not silvervine leaves and stems.
    The Product for sale ~
Powdered, silver vine fruit gall that is mixed with catnip.
The catnip was recently harvested from Canada.
Silvervine is only grown in the high mountain areas of Japan and Northern China.
The powdered silvervine was recently processed from a highly respected laboratory in China.
Most sellers mix silvervine with catnip.
That is the product that we offer with this listing.
Note that we also offer the silvervine powder and chopped valerian root in separate listings.

    quoted ~
In 2017, nine veterinarians performed an extensive study determining cat’s responsiveness to: catnip, silvervine, “tatarian” honeysuckle, and valerian root.
    It’s a fifteen-page document and is available at biomedcentral.com.
The paper’s title is “Responsiveness of cats (Felidae) to silver vine (Actinidia polygama), Tatarian honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica), valerian (Valeriana officinalis) and catnip (Nepeta cataria)”.
    Their ”Findings” ~
    1)
    Catnip –
Cats “not” responding to catnip was 1 out of three, or 30%.Of those “non-responders” 75% responded to silver vine, and 30% responded to tatarian honeysuckle.
    2)
    Silvervine –
Cats “not” responding to silver vine were 2 out of 10 or 20%.
    3)
Tatarian honeysuckle and Valerian root –
50% of the cats responded to honeysuckle, and 50% responded to valerian root.
