    Description

    DESCRIPTION:
    Pair of antique Worcester porcelain style tea caddies or ginger jars with an underglaze blue scale design and hand painted reserves of birds, insects, and bugs.  We guarantee that these are antique hand painted porcelain jars from the mid 19th to early 20th century (or earlier) and that they are not modern decorative reproductions.
    These are made of hard past porcelain and our guess is that they were made by Samson in Paris, or by another French or German manufacturer that made high quality Worcester style porcelains during the last half of the 19th century.
    MARKS:
    Both have an underglaze blue 18th century seal mark which was used circa 1755 to 1775.  However, our best guess is that these marks are spurious, and that these jars actually date from the mid to late 19th century, and they were not made by Worcester.  Please research this on your own if this interests you.
    CONDITION:
    In very good antique preowned condition free from chips, cracks, damages, stains, crazing, and repairs.
    Mentioned for the record, there is some minor gold wear to the top edges underneath the lids.  This wear is more obvious to one jar than the other.
    There may be a few typical slight factory original imperfections possibly including glaze dimples, specs, or paint and color variations.
    None are visually obvious or distracting unless noted.
    MEASUREMENTS:
    Approximately height is 5 inches and 1 3/8 inches top diameter.  Maximum circumference is approximately 3 1/4 inches.
